Kochi, Aug. 22 Good support came from the domestic market players at the Kochi tea auction even as inter-State buyers operated mainly in CTC bolder dust and leaf varieties. Exporters were less active at the current levels and restricted their operations to fannings at the leaf sale.
There were 8,59,000 kgs of dust tea on offer, where prices of bolder CTC eased while other CTC varieties barely held the previous week levels. Some good liquoring dust varieties appreciated in value, backed by good demand from major blenders. Orthodox high grown dust prices eased.
Best CTC varieties quoted Rs 87-95, medium CTC was at Rs 80-84 and below medium was at Rs 74-78. High grown BOPD fetched Rs 110-114, medium BOPD was at Rs 66.Leaf Sale
The quantity on offer at the leaf auction surged to 4,18,000 kgs, but prices continued to reign high. Prices of high grown broken and whole leaf grades gained smartly. Smaller broken and fannings were steady to dearer. Medium orthodox broken and whole leaf grades were dearer. Despite good demand prices of CTC vartieties eased.
