GULBARGA: Flood situation continued to be grim along the Krishna on Saturday.
Following increased inflow into the Narayanpur dam, 2.73 lakh cusecs of water was being released into the river. Floodwater entered low-lying agricultural fields on the banks of the Krishna in Shahapur and Surpur taluks of Gulbarga district.
Standing crops on 238 acres of land in 25 villages in Shahapur and on 1,783 acres of land in 22 villages in Surpur were under water on Saturday. Road link
Road link between Gulbarga and Raichur districts via Deodurga was cut off as the Krishna was flowing two feet over the Kollur bridge.
Deputy Commissioner K.S. Satyamurthy has appealed to residents of the villages on the banks of the Krishna not to enter the river as the flood situation was serious.
He has advised people to move to safe places in case of emergency-Hindu
